Second Sub Category

SFP stands for Small Form-Factor Pluggable. Cisco SFPs are hot-swappable input/output devices that plug into a Fast Ethernet port or slot and link that port or slot with the network. They are interchangeable with numerous other products and can be intermixed in the following combinations: 1000BASE-T, 1000BASE-SX, 1000BASE-LX/LH, 1000BASE-EX, 1000BASE-ZX and 1000BASE-BX10-D/U. SFPs are also optically interoperable with similar 100BASE-X Ethernet interfaces on the same link and support the “pay-as-you-populate” functionality model. A variety of switches, routers and other optical transport devices support SFPs.
